Oh, Annie!

I have been well and truly felled by a virus this week, so I've been operating on very low batteries. Luckily I'd got most of my stuff ready for the sale on Saturday. This little cupboard has been in our shed for about three years. It was white, grubby and lacked hinges. But a coat of Farrow and Ball and some wallpaper, and tlc from my Dad (hinge angel) has worked wonders.

(Little cupboard now sold)

I love the wavy edge and the tiny brass catch. It also has an enamel toothbrush holder on one side - a very ingenious design. But this post isn't really about my cupboard, it's about a very exciting discovery: Annie Sloan paint is finally available in a local shop! I have read about this wonder paint on so many blogs, notably Thriftwood, and Fading Grace (thank you ladies) but I could not find any nearby. Finally, yesterday, I tracked some down:

It is amazing. I have already coated a stool, and it went on like a dream. There is now a small table waiting, and plenty more besides. No preparation, I can't quite believe it. And it was cheaper than F&B, too.

    1. Yes, more colours would be nice. I like grey, but it gets boring after a while...although brighter colours never really seem to sell in my (admittedly quite limited) experience

    1. Thanks Anne. I know I sound like an advertisement, but it is the lack of prep, the fact that it's water soluble (no more ruined brushes) and that you only need one coat which is really good. And it has a totally flat, matte finish, which I like. I wonder how hard wearing it is, though....

  6. Hope you are feeling much better now. Its very difficult to buy Annie Sloan paint around here. My friend has been trying to stock it in her vintage shop for ages. It wears well from my experience and as I am very lazy
about preparation its perfect for me. I love your little cupboard. Karen x

    1. Hi Karen
I'm trying to shake my bug before the sale tomorrow, but it's slow going. Might have to enlist the family to help me out on the day, at least it's a good forecast! Thanks for your comments about the paint, that's great to hear it's long-lasting. Surprisingly, I found my supply in a nearby garden centre.
