Signs of life

Last week felt as if we were living under a rock. It was so dark, and so wet every day. But today we've awoken to sunshine. The garden is a sad sight, with a large tree down, half the roof ripped off the shed and leaves and twigs strewn everywhere. But at least we can get outside and start doing something. There's light for photos, too. My Country Living is a welcome sight with a cheery cover. I enjoyed getting that in the post.
And on Friday I bought lots of spring flowers.

I've recently written an article about the narcissi farmers in the Scilly Isles. I didn't get to travel there, sadly, but I did find out all about the way the flowers are grown outside in the winter and spring months.

The bulbs are pushing their way through now, there should be some of our own hyacinths in a month or so.

Enjoy your Sunday.

    1. Hi Daisy,
I've been a fan of Eric R since my early twenties, thanks to my Dad. Way back in 1987, we went to a big exhibition of his work in London, and this weekend Dad said he'd found the catalogue that we bought at the time. It's full of beautiful images, and this one caught my eye.

    1. Hi Jacqui, yes, I love that tablecloth, it's a blue/green thick linen. I found it at the bottom of a box at an antiques fair.

  11. Lovely new header. The sun is shining here today - I am amazed- and you have reminded me I haven't read Feb's Country Living yet so after coffee in the De La Warr Pavilion with eldest I shall do nothing but read magazines this afternoon. No chance but a good thought. xx

It's a great issue. I've come back to Country Living after a flirtation with The Simple Things! Hope you get chance to have a good read soon.

  14. Thanks Jenny. We're very lucky here to be avoiding the worst of the rain. Eric's pancakes are fabulous aren't they? Who'd have thought a pancake could look so pretty! Would love to see the saucers some time.
