A basket full of bizarre objects can only mean one thing: it's time to do another cover picture for Nene Valley Living! It's always tricky to come up with something interesting at this time of year. The landscape is threadbare, there are very few plants showing signs of life, and you cannot rely on a pretty white frost (there really haven't been any this year where we live). So, it was a case of scouring the garden centre for a few pretty blooms (in reality, just a few sad primulas) and seeing what we could do. Snip, snip....
This is what we came up with:
Obviously photographer Lesley Anne's shot is vastly superior to this little snap, but it gives an idea.
Unfortunately, I had to brake sharply on the way home and the whole, delicate edifice went flying across the car and disintegrated, but it had its moment.
Seeing those pretty flowers and smelling their faint scent made me long for spring.
