Village hall party!
Well, we chose possibly the wettest day of the year so far to stage our Spring fashion party shoot for the local magazine! It's a shame, but thanks to lots of lighting by our photographer Lesley Anne, hopefully we should have some lovely pics. As usual, I was so absorbed in helping to set up pictures that I hardly took any of my own, and these are literally just quick snaps. The village hall is an old school, and has a wonderful look about it, from the old dial-up telephone in the hallway, to the old floorboards and ointment pink tongue and groove panelling.
Here is photographer Lesley Anne hard at work. And our brilliant models, Meli and Poppy.
Their tea dresses looked wonderful. Cakes and flowers were everywhere.
These ranunculus came courtesy of Poppy's mum, Tracey, owner of florist Foxtail Lilly (some of you may well read her blog). Cakes by me, and Mr Kipling.
All the clothes are from local, independent retailers or they are vintage (also from a local shop, Sue Ryder Vintage and Retro). Poppy looked great in the stripy 50s number in the foreground.
Only these plimsolls came from a chainstore - Matalan - and that's only because I couldn't find any in the smaller boutiques.
It was great to give some of my vintage props an airing. I even starched the tablecloths last night. Can't wait to see the professional shots now (and those boys of mine have been waiting patiently for the cakes to arrive back home...)

ReplyDeleteThanks so much. It is really lovely to hear feedback, especially from those who appreciate this kind of look :D I saw the professional shots today and they're great. I'll post some of those when I can.
ReplyDeleteWOW that seems like a fantastic day. Such fun and happy faces were there in Village hall party. I just adored the décor, food and all of the arrangements. Those desserts on the platter are amazing. At one of the local Chicago venues I also hosted a grand party for my mom’s 50th birthday and it was also a blasting evening.
