Stock take

Vintage Sale at Foxtail Lilly, 41 South Rd, Oundle September 8th 11am-3pm.
Little dog tin (top right) now sold to a sharp-eyed blog reader!

Sorting out stock  for next Saturday's sale. Tiny shopping baskets from Spain, retro picnic sets, vintage shoes and a few clothes, tins, toys and games. It's fun getting everything together and labelling it up.

Little cotton chemise for a baby. I always take lots of linens to this sale, people enjoy rummaging through a basket of tablecloths and fabrics.

Not forgetting those cushions and blankets...
The new magazine arrived on Friday with the results of the shoot in our house.

I am pleased with how it has come out.

And I finally managed to track down the last issue of this lovely magazine,Pretty Nostalgic.

I don't know why our area always lags so far behind the rest of the country but WH Smiths only got these in on Friday (and the third issue is due out now!). £8 is a lot for one magazine, but I do very much admire what the publishers are trying to do with this. I bought it instead of Molly Makes (I find the Makes are a bit too hard for my limited sewing skills), and I loved their features on vintage children's books and thermos flasks (I thought it was only me that was so geeky about both of these subjects!).

And finally, new winter shoes from Clarks. Spotted while buying school shoes for my son and unable to resist...

  1. How lovely your home looks - good for you. I've got my eye on those shoes....
Strange that I picked up that 'Pretty Nostalgic' magazine for the first time the other day - thought it pricey so didn't buy it but I can see its attraction as it had some lovely photographs in it.
All the best with your sale
    Best wishes

    1. Hi Ada
It's a local magazine, and I'm the editor (hence the article!). We are delivered free in the Nene Valley area (that's a posh description of Peterborough and surrounding villages). I have the world's smallest budget, so have to work close to home where possible (in this case, very close!). The Aga photo on my blog is in the photographers kitchen and I usually end up asking friends when it comes to interiors, but I'd run out this month :)

  5. Just found your blog; it is lovely. I also spotted Pretty Nostalgic in the newsagents the other day, and though expensive I might now be tempted having seen your photos.

  6. I hope the sale goes really well - you have some lovely things to take. I have been rather disappointed with Mollie Makes recently but Pretty Nostalgic is a lovely, original magazine. Today I also found a beautiful magazine called Land Love which you might enjoy - its bi- monthly too. Love your blue shoes. Karen X

    1. Thanks Karen. I have seen Land Love, someone in our village popped round and gave me a copy because she thought I'd like it (which was very touching as I barely know her!). It is beautifully photographed.
I liked the mix of features in Pretty Nostalgic, I agree with you that it is original, not easy to achieve in a magazine!

  7. Just doing a bit of a catch up on your lovely blog. Do you by any chance still have the brown shoes? What size, how much, are they flat ... I have my fingers crossed! M x
