Summer sun for the sale

Pretty covered suitcases by fellow stallholder Sharon

Sparkly jelly moulds on the Annie Sloan painted table...

What a lovely day it turned out to be at the Foxtail Vintage sale. I wasn't sure if I'd make it, as I have been coughing and spluttering my way through the week, but I rallied round when I woke up and saw the sunshine. It was a really relaxed day, with gentle tunes from yesteryear drifting across the courtyard from a Dansette record player, no breeze and buyers who were content to browse (and buy, as well, thankfully!).

You never can tell what is going to sell. Today, china was popular, vintage toys, and thankfully, I sold almost all of my cushions. A large garden table and chairs, a Lloyd Loom cupboard, some linens and fabrics, and a stepladder have also made their way out of our shed to new homes.

These things are from Sharon's stall, she always puts colours together really well. I have lots of her things in my house from fairs over the years.

I was pleased that I sold some toys. The rabbit so very nearly sold, but his purchase was vetoed by a husband (this happens rather often, I find!). My little baskets were popular, too. Only one left now.

Plenty of teas were served. And I even got to wear my Cath K dress for an entire day.

Thanks to everyone who helped to make this such a great day....

  1. Love the dress, great to hear you had a good day. I always introduce my husband as my stalker when I am mooching around vintage or boot fair stalls!

    1. Hi Ada
Suitcases are not my own sadly, I will pop a caption on those. They belong to Sharon Garner who is a vintage diy genius. She unpicks damaged and irreparable quilts by hand, and then covers the cases with the fabric. Great idea! Sharon and partner Geoff have a stand at the Hemswell Antiques Centre, near Lincoln.
I have got one case that I covered in this way, but I don't think it's good enough for selling!

  3. Glad you sold lots of your lovely things and you look so pretty in that dress. I would have had to have bought that bunny - sounds like she should have left her husband at home. My Grandmother had a soda syphon just like yours - I wish we still had it now. Karen x

    1. Thanks Karen, that's very nice of you. I absolutely love the cut of the dress. Real vintage ones are always cut very narrow, but as this is a 'repro' it is really forgiving! I liked the soda syphon, but I have got a blue one, so I decided this one had to go, and it did sell quite early on.
As for the leaving of husbands at home...;)

  4. All looks lovely. I'd have given the rabbit a home. I know just what you mean about husbands. I've lost many a sale by a husband giving a 'look'. The women are then normally really embarassed!

  5. Yes, I've seen the 'look.' I never understand it, if it's just a little treat that will make someone happy, and they have the money in their pocket, then why ever not?
